Aquilae Merlot, red wine Igt Sicilia, is a convincing and dense wine, rich and well-balanced, capable of conquering the most demanding of imbibers.
A wine of depth and proverbial refinement, the Merlot wines in the Aquilae range are typified by their soft notes of ripe red fruits, rhubarb, cocoa and rose. On the palate Merlot is initially velvety with an expressive and complex texture, studded by silky and perfectly-balanced tannins. Merlot is a class act but not alluring, true to its nature.
Colour: vivid and brilliant ruby red, very intense
On the nose: clear and soft notes of red berry fruits, blackcurrant jam, rhubarb, cocoa and rose, leaving space for crunchy nuances of nutmeg, cloves, tobacco and mint
On the palate: initially velvety, developing into a substantial and complex texture which is expressed with an outstanding and bewitching drinkability, fervent, persuasive and dynamic, where singularly silky and well-amalgamated tannins predominate
Characteristics: full-bodied and fleshy, Merlot is a convincing and dense wine, rich and well-balanced, elegant and with a pungent freshness, never tiresome nor excessive, capable of conquering the most demanding of imbibers
To eat with: a winner with tagliolini pasta with mushrooms and sausages, rigatoni pasta with hare ragù, and a slab of braised veal prepared with the very same wine. Excellent with a rare and juicy Chianina (T bone) steak with the renowned Rossini tournedos (filet mignon). Impeccable with Pecorino di Fossa cheese.
